About Orey Group

Founded in 1886, the Orey Group has a business tradition dating back over more than a century. Throughout its long history it has gone through countless economic cycles, many social and political life stages, both in Portugal and abroad. Since its foundation, its management has been in the hands of the Orey family, nowadays in its fourth generation.

In the last few years, the Group had been successful in professionalizing its management, both at the subsidiaries and within the board of directors itself, adopting best management practices, instilling dynamics of change and defining strategic guidelines with established deadlines.

During 2009, the Group started a process of strategic repositioning and now stands in the marketplace as an investment holding company.

This new reality lends sequence to the strategic plan with a view to focusing the Groups business on the financial area, managing the Groups traditional business areas (shipping, transport and logistics, and technical representations) through a Private Equity Fund, in turn managed by the Groups financial area.

To this end, a private equity fund is being set up under the name Orey Capital Partners. The aim is for it to acquire the non-financial companies, particularly those linked to the traditional business areas of shipping and technical representations, and also to invest in new opportunities to acquire similar companies.
